Long term Locum Vet- Isle of Skye
A Locum Vet is needed between January and June at a single vet practice on the Isle of Skye. This is a unique opportunity to live in rural Scotland and work as a Locum with a mix of small animal pets and some large animal work.
The following dates are available but any shorter stints within the periods is welcomed.
04/01/2023 to 22/01/2023 (mixed species, sole charge)
10/02/2023 to 31/03/2023 (mixed species, sole charge)
01/04/2023 to 30/06/2023 (mixed species, or agric only or companion animal only working with another vet
You would be based at a traditional, independent, mixed species (no dairy), rural practice (James Herriot style), single-handed most of the year but 2 vets in April-June
This is usually a quiet time of the year for large animal work, with lambing not starting until late March. However, there may be occasional farm calls for calvings/caesarians/calfbeds for a few of our winter calving herds.
The busiest time of year is from mid-March until the end of June when ideally they would like a second vet to work alongside the practice owner.
On call and OOH is required.
Accommodation can be provided in a 2 bedroom cottage in the country and about 3 miles from the practice. Dogs and friends/relatives are welcome to use the accommodation.
A vehicle is available for use when working with us (inc personal use, for any locums who may not have their own transport).
