Vet Surgeon

Sep 13

  • Do you wish to achieve a better work-life balance with the benefits of a large cosmopolitan northwest town?
  • Our Practice JVP is happy to meet vets that require flexibility; be this a full 4 days, 2-3 days per week, a consulting only role, short days, part-time while completing a certificate etc.
  • A sign on bonus will help you settle into your new position.
  • Salary of £45-60K (negotiable if cert. holder)
  • Happy to pay for and support you whilst you work towards a certificate.

At this branch, we are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to come and join our caring, supportive team that really values work-life balance and this is displayed in numerous ways via our daily schedules.  Lunch break is guaranteed, with time specifically put in the diary for catching up, calls, and emergencies. The practice team, led by our JVP, can accommodate either full or part-time hours alongside an established team of 5 vets and additional clinical team of RVNs, and an excellent reception team.

We are a popular first opinion practice with a large following and a varied and interesting caseload.  Ideally, you will be able to cover Thursday and Friday, however, the rota is flexible enough to accommodate different shift patterns and a number of options are available.  Alternatives include a Tuesday 10am to 4pm, or 2 full days with a shorter Tuesday, plus a Friday day off swap or possible alternating every other Friday as a day off.  If your preference is consulting only this is possible and if you are on a 2-day week rota, then you would have an operating day every other week to balance out the full-time staff members.

In order to maintain your work-life balance and enjoy everything this area has to offer you will work within a 1 in 4 weekend rota, Saturday only from 9am to 12 noon sole charge with 2 RVN’s and 2 receptionists in the practice and no OOH.

The town where this practice is based is in close proximity to both Manchester and Liverpool, under an hour from the Peak District, one hour from Leeds, under 2 hours from the Lake District and Snowdonia National Park in Wales.  The cost of living is very attractive, especially for those keen to step onto the property ladder, as residents enjoy a standard of living that would ordinarily require a typically larger salary.  Those with school-aged children can enjoy a good standard of education and access to some great Colleges and Universities in nearby cities.

The practice offers a competitive salary and a generous benefits package that you would expect from a major veterinary employer.  As an added bonus we can offer you a sign-on bonus on joining us and a further payment on passing your probationary period.
