Exotics Veterinary Nurse
Due to expansion, this practice is looking for a nurse to join their exotics team. To be successful, you will enjoy being hands-on and are able to work alongside the existing team in this growing and developing discipline.
You will also assist with Inpatient care, surgical procedures, diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia, organisation of the day and the day-to-day running of the exotics ward. You will have the support to enable you to develop your skills and knowledge, to ensure you provide gold standard care to a range of species. Advanced qualifications such as Certificates, diplomas and VTS are all fully supported.
The working hours for this role are an average of 19 hours per week spread over 2/3 days, however there is some flexibility regarding shift times. We will also consider applications from applicants looking for a full-time role but would be happy to work in a split role.
You will be required to take part in the weekend rota working a 1 in 6 weekend, either Saturday or Sunday from 7.45am to 6pm. We have a bank holiday rota in place, which means our nursing team are required to work 1 or 2 bank holidays a year. There would also be a requirement to take part in an on-call rota (1 night approximately every 8 weeks)- further information on this would be discussed at the interview.
The practice offers a range of state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. Our diagnostics and treatments are second to none and we have many highly trained and experienced colleagues, to ensure that our patients receive the very best treatment.
We strive to deliver world-class patient care and our fantastic facilities provide a superb care environment, including 13 consultation rooms, 7 hospital wards, 5 theatres, full advanced imaging suite, 3 ultrasound rooms, an endoscopy suite, hydrotherapy pool /treadmills and dedicated chemo and radio-iodine treatment rooms.

Exotic’s is a friendly and supportive team. It is a busy yet rewarding discipline that sees a variety of cases daily. You will work alongside the Exotic’s Specialist, 2 Exotic’s Vets, 3 dedicated Exotic Nurses and Exotics Kennel Assistant. Our facilities enable us to provide care for a range of small mammals, reptiles, birds, amphibians, as well as wildlife.
The team is always expanding, opening new opportunities for career development. We have an extensive in-house CPD program to enhance the skills of our nurses and a leadership program to support career progression.
