Are you looking for a working holiday in sunny Sydney Australia, or perhaps fancy a more permanent sea change?
Northside Emergency Veterinary Service is looking for a fun and friendly new vet to help cover some overnight and weekend shifts. We are experienced hosts of UK vets and nurses, who use us as a base to explore Sydney and beyond. Many have stayed on beyond their 6 months working holiday allowance and transitioned onto more long term visas.
We are located on the beautiful Northern Beaches of Sydney, close to Manly and Palm Beach (‘Summer Bay’). We have great beaches, restaurants, schools, hospitals and shops - everything you need for a fantastic time in Australia.
We welcome applications from experienced ECC vets or experienced GP’s who want to try something new. Our clientele often want what is best for their pets, which means cases are worked up to a high level and there are loads of opportunities for learning and self-improvement. We are also due to move into a brand new two storey hospital in the next 12 months with a dedicated ICU and all the gadgets for you to enjoy.
Our team of emergency and critical care veterinarians are experienced, kind and supportive. We realise our employees are our biggest asset and we have low staff turnover to prove how much our people feel appreciated. We value collaboration and work together as a team. We share our hospital with the Northside Veterinary Specialists, who are friendly, experienced and available if you need their input on cases. There are many opportunities for professional development to learn through our multiple in house CE events (regular radiology, medicine rounds, monthly focus’, CPR training, membership-mentoring scheme).
On top of this, we guarantee you an excellent salary, generous CE allowance (as long as it’s relevant, it’s approved!) and monthly bonus scheme so you know you are appreciated (10% of profit returned to the staff).
Salary for a permanent full time position starts at £100,000 (38 hours per week). Any overtime is paid and the opportunity to pick up extra shifts is available if desired. Overnight shifts are 12 hours long, so staff work 6 shifts per fortnight. We are open to discussing shorter shifts if you prefer though - everything is flexible!
Sole charge can occasionally occur overnight between 2am and 6am. We require someone who is confident to hold the fort with on call support from a team of experienced ECC vets. Surgeons and medicine specialists are also on call if you need them.
You will have great work life balance and leave your shift knowing that your patients are being well looked after by your teammates.
